The “Grand Cru” designation is reserved for wines made from at least 90% of grapes harvested at the place of production or in the commune, and at most 10% of grapes from another place of production of the same Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC).
In addition, the following criteria must be met:
- Mention of the vintage year
- Sugar content
The natural sugar content must be 5°Oe higher than the minimum required depending on the grape variety and the production region
The wines of the Cave de la Rose d’Or are made entirely from grapes from the estate’s plots, thus exceeding the minimum standards set by the AOC.
